Tamarind: 15 Healthy Reasons Why You Need to Eat This Exotic Fruit!

Sweet and tangy tamarind is used in Asian and South American cuisine. This pod-like fruit contains tartaric acid, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect the body from harmful free radicals. It’s also contains:

  • copper
  • potassium
  • calcium
  • iron
  • selenium
  • zinc
  • magnesium
  • thiamin
  • vitamin A
  • folic acid
  • riboflavin
  • niacin
  • vitamin C

Tamarind pulp is a good source of fiber. If fresh tamarind is hard to find, you can purchase pulp or concentrate in Asian and Latin American markets and use it to make tamarind drinks and tamarind sauce for chicken or shrimp.

This is one I've never seen. The fruit looks different from anything at the local market. Thanks for sharing the information.
